The story of Dognests

Jane Bertram invented Dognests in 1971 for your pets to snuggle down into. They have been specially designed to provide warmth and security at a reasonable cost.
Jane originally started her idea of bean bags for pets when she saw her terriers sitting on a child's beanbag.

As she was an occupational therapist and used to making patterns form toys bears to splints she invented a shape which resembled a 'doughnut' because being a country girl she had noticed that dogs turn round and round whilst making their nest as they would in leaves.

So she named them DOGNESTS ..........The shape was originally round then she discovered that dogs in beds filled with polystyrene beads are warm and stretch out , so she altered the shape to rectangular which allows for a pillow for your pets head.

To market this idea she took three of her terriers to Harrods with great trepidation and left them in charge of the white coated attendant in the kennels in the basement of Harrods. She was taken to see the buyer of the pet department, with the comment 'this woman has some crazy idea that dogs will sit on these beds.

Harrods bought six and Dognests had arrived. (Sadly we do not sell to the trade now and so Harrods do not stock Dognests) It took three years for the idea to go round the world and to be copied.
